Samsung have enjoyed a very successful 2012 so far with the original Galaxy Note phone pulling in impressive sales in the earlier part of the year and the new Galaxy S3 enjoying a fabulous time since it was unveiled in May. The new Samsung Galaxy Note is being lined up for an October launch thanks to the success established by its predecessor and already one major company is in line to use several thousand of these handsets.

American Airlines have recently taken the decision to supply in flight staff with device that will replace the traditional paper manual. The pilots of their planes will be given shiny new iPad devices but these were deemed to large to be practical for cabin crew so the next obvious choice was the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The company have quite obviously neglected to mention the cellular feature of the model when speaking about their decision given the fact that flights do not allow the use of mobile phones. instead of this they have been focusing on the WiFi aspect and treating the handset more like a miniature tablet, which in effect it is. The company are hoping that WiFi will be boasted by 91 per cent of its flights before the end of the year and by next summer 17 thousand of these handset should have been supplied to the companies cabin crew.
The choice of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as a small tablet is not uprising, many have labelled the phone as a “phablet”, referring to its phone come tablet design and it is the perfect phone to bridge the gap between the two formats. American Airlines stated that their staff liked the large display that is boasted by the model but also the fact that it enables single handed operation. This new phone will feature a 5.5 inch display, trumping the original phone and making it the largest screened phone on the market. An global release of the model is expected within the next three weeks.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will not appeal to all consumers because of the large display but many will appreciate the extra size that is available. The model look set to cap off a fantastic year for the manufacturers who have already enjoyed great success with previous launches.
